When gender quotas do not deliver: Lessons learned from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro

Gender quotas have been accepted as a global tool to address men’s overrepresentation in politics. Being introduced for the first time at the beginning of the 1990ies in Argentina, these temporary special measures have traveled all around the world, among others being applied in the electoral legislation in all countries of South-East Europe. Nevertheless, gender quotas do not deliver everywhere, due to diverse informal and formal rules and conditions. This event will feature the research of two GenPolSEE members.

Speakers:

  • Saša Gavrić, PhD Researcher, Leipzig University
  • Nikoleta Đukanović, Assistant Professor, University Donja Gorica, Podgorica

Moderator: Marsela Dauti, Adjunct Associate Professor, University of Tirana

The event will be in English language.
